    Why I built this

    Srikeerthan

When Visa launched VAMP in April 2025, I spent hours trying to understand if my Stripe accounts were at risk. The formula is confusing and Stripe doesn't show your VAMP score directly β€” so I built this calculator.

Now I'm building automated monitoring β€” alerts before you hit danger zone. Drop your email above if that's useful.

    Frequently Asked Questions

VAMP (Visa Acquirer Monitoring Program) is Visa's unified fraud and dispute monitoring program that launched April 2025. It replaced the old VDMP and VFMP programs.

Why it matters: Exceeding VAMP thresholds can result in fines of $10+ per dispute, mandatory remediation plans, higher processing fees, and potentially losing your ability to accept Visa payments through Stripe.

Formula: VAMP Ratio = (TC40 Fraud Reports + Total Disputes) Γ· Total CNP Transactions

Important: Fraud-related disputes are effectively counted twiceβ€”once as a TC40 report and again as a dispute. This makes the VAMP ratio higher than old chargeback rate calculations.

Safe Zone: Below 0.3% ratio and fewer than 75 VAMP count

    Non-Compliant: 0.3% - 0.9% ratio (warning, possible fees)

Excessive: Above 0.9% ratio or 1000+ VAMP count (enforcement fees apply)

Stripe's recommendation: Stay below 0.75% to maintain account health and avoid any risk.

First offense: 3-month grace period with no fines (but you must submit a remediation plan within 15 days)

    After grace period:

    • $10 per fraudulent/disputed transaction at Excessive level
    • Mandatory monthly reporting to Visa
    • Potential account reserves from Stripe
    • Risk of account termination with continued non-compliance

To exit VAMP: You must maintain ratios below threshold for 3 consecutive months.

    In your Stripe Dashboard:

    1. Go to Payments β†’ Disputes
    2. Look for "Early fraud warnings" or "EFW"
    3. Or navigate to Radar β†’ Overview for fraud metrics

If you don't have access to TC40 data, enter 0 in the calculatorβ€”but know that your actual VAMP score may be higher than calculated.
